Dr. Shagata's work has a strong focus on the role of gender, social contexts and norms on policies. His research examines how to reduce the risk of default among microfinance borrowers, and sheds new light on the conventional wisdom that women are better borrowers than men in microfinance.

Dr. Tinaikar has been a career banker with more than three decades of banking experience mainly in Corporate & Investment Banking and has worked with ICICI, The World Bank and IFC, Washington D.C., and international banks such as Standard Chartered Bank, Societe General – The French & International Bank, DBS Bank Ltd. in India and Singapore and Mizuho Bank Ltd. belonging to the Japanese Financial Group Mizuho where he worked for almost 13 years in Singapore and India. Prior to his retirement in March this year from Mizuho Dr Tinaikar was Managing Director & Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking for India. He has also done stints with the erstwhile Tata Engineering & Locomotive Company Ltd. (now Tata Motors) as a graduate trainee engineer and Larsen & Toubro as Jt. General Manager - Office of the Chairman & MD. He has also attended an Executive Program in investment banking and corporate finance at Kellog School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago.
Since the year 1990 after he returned from the U.S. Dr. Tinaikar has been associated as visiting faculty in the subjects “International Finance” and “Derivatives & amp; Risk Management” with several reputed India B-Schools like JBIMS, SPJIMR, IIM-A and IIM-B.

Suneel Sarswat has more than 12 years of teaching experience. Earlier he had worked for Bank of America as a Research Associate for a hedge fund group. He has also taught/conducted corporate training programs. His current research interest is in formal methods and theoretical computer science applications in finance.
