The Academy's Chairman is renowned academic Lord Meghnad Desai, Professor Emeritus at the London School of Economics, has 38 years of teaching experience and is a life peer at the British House of Lords.
Dr. Tushar Poddar
Tushar Poddar, Macro-Strategist, Wellington Fund Management, Tushar was an economist at the International Monetary Fund based out of Washington, DC for five years covering Emerging Markets and providing policy advice. Tushar earned a PhD and MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
P.D. Singh

PD Singh is Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase Bank India. In his role, PD is responsible for driving multi-geography solutions across the spectrum, for our largest Financial Institution & Corporate clients. PD has been with J.P. Morgan for 10 years and been integral to the build out of the India franchise.

PD has overall banking experience of over 24 years and prior to J. P. Morgan, he spent about 10 years with HSBC in multiple leadership roles. In his last role at HSBC, PD was the Country Head – Corporate Banking for the Large Local Corporate segment.

PD is an Engineer from the University of Poona and holds a double MBA degree. He is on the ‘Banking & Finance Committee’ of Indian Merchants Chamber for the year 2020-21. PD is a mentor for The Financial Inclusion Lab, a philanthropic investment by J.P. Morgan, he is also the Chairman of the CSR committee at a Non-Profit ‘ADAPT’ (formerly The Spastics Society of India). PD is one of the key founding advisory board members of The Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics, Mumbai.

P.D. Singh
Managing Director Head, Financial Institutions & Corporate Coverage

PD Singh is Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase Bank India. Roopank Chaudhary
Partner, Korn Ferry He is a Partner with Korn Ferry. He was also the Partner of Aon Hewitt and the India Country Head for McLagan (Aon’s Financial Institutions Practice). He is also part of the Regional Leadership team for McLagan, and the APAC head for the Insurance Practice. He has assisted many multinational and local financial services organizations with their human capital challenges in India, APAC and in the Middle East region. Roopank has authored various articles and shared perspectives on management issues in leading Indian media publications and is a regular speaker in several annual seminars and HR forums. He has over 15 years of industry experience across consulting and banking, having formerly worked at HSBC. An MBA in marketing and finance, he also holds a graduate degree in economics and a post graduate degree in journalism.
Arijeet Banerjee
Head Corporate Risk - Wells Fargo - EGS With over 30 years of experience as a teacher, economist and Risk Management, Arijeet has worked mostly in varied fields and specialises in Credit Risk Management. He currently heads the Corporate Risk of Wells Fargo - EGS. His previous role as the Managing Director in Deutsche Bank and Global Head of Credit Risk & Rating, he was responsible for assessing and managing the Credit Risk of Deutsche Bank’s global customers across the globe. Arijeet has a Master’s Degree in Economics from The Delhi School of Economics. He enjoys mentoring & teaching, travelling and trekking.
Dharmakirti Joshi
Chief Economist - CRISIL Mr Joshi holds a bachelors and Masters degree from Honours School in Economics, Punjab University, Chandigarh, India. He has attended program on Macroeconomic Policy and Management at Harvard University and was a visiting scholar to Economic Research Unit of University of Pennsylvania. At CRISIL, he leads the economic research agenda and is the primary spokesperson for CRISIL on macroeconomic issues. He has extensive experience in macroeconomic analysis and medium-term assessments of the Indian economy. He was member of the Working Group of Savings for the 12th Five Year Plan. He is also a member of the industry monitoring group of Reserve Bank of India. He is member of Economic Policy Group of Confederation of Indian Industry and Indian Merchant Chamber. He regularly writes for leading newspapers and expresses his views on the economy in the electronic media. Joshi has spent 30 years in economic research and consultancy. He spent 11 years at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) before moving on to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), New Delhi, and then CRISIL. At NCAER, Joshi worked on short and medium term macroeconomic forecasting using Computable General Equilibrium and econometric models, macroeconomic reforms and fiscal policy related issues. At CERC, he worked on regulatory, competition and tariff related issues in the Indian power sector.

Dr. Ajit Ranade
Chief Economist, Aditya Birla Group Dr. Ajit Ranade – Head of Academic Board, MDAE, serves as the President and Chief Economist of the Aditya Birla Group. He has a PhD in Economics from Brown University, B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He had been Professor ICRIER, New Delhi and Assistant Professor at IGIDR, Mumbai. He also served as Chief Economist at ABN AMRO Bank. He was Government of India’s nominee as Independent Director of Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd., from September 22, 2007 to April 1, 2010. He has served on various committees of the Reserve Bank of India, including the committee for Fuller Capital Account Convertibility and the committee to review FEMA for Individuals. He writes at First Post, Business Standard, IBNLive, The Economist Times. He has authored several books, namely Life Insurance in India: Emerging Issues, Three Questions about Insurance liberalization, Maharashtra’s EGS: Regional Patterns, Scope for Reforms and Replication.
Dr. Niranjan Rajadhyaksha
Research Director & Senior Fellow, IDFC Institute Dr. Niranjan Rajadhyaksha is Research Director and Senior Fellow at IDFC Institute. He provides direction to the Institute’s research programmes. His research interests include macroeconomics, political economy and economic history. Previously, he was Executive Editor of Mint, a financial daily, where he managed the opinion section, wrote the daily editorials and the award-winning Café Economics column. He also helped launch the data journalism initiative at the newspaper. Niranjan was awarded the Jefferson Fellowship by the East-West Center in Hawaii in 1998. He received the Society of Publishers in Asia Awards for excellence in opinion writing two years in a row (2010 and 2011). He won the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism in 2012 and the B.R. Shenoy Award for Economics in 2017. Niranjan is a member the board of trustees of the Centre for Civil Society. He was also a member of the advisory committee on the fifth volume of the official history of the Reserve Bank of India, written by Tirthankar Roy.
Dr. Mangal Goswami
Executive Director- South East Asian Central Bank (SEACEN) Dr. Mangal Goswami – is currently the Executive Director of South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN). He has also worked as Desk economist for various IMF member countries. Before joining the IMF in November 2000, Mangal was an Economist at ABN AMRO Bank in their Global Trading Unit in Singapore during the Asian Financial Crisis. He has a PhD in International and Monetary Economics from Kansas State University and a B.A. from Coe College in the U.S.
